There are 5 teenage boys in one classroom and they're all friends. four of them did fine when they were in different classes.
One is lazy. He always comes to class empty handed.
Now that they boys are in the same class, they do nothing but disrupt the class. I'm fine with students who do not want to learn. It pisses me off when I have to invest my time on them instead of the other students.
the obvious solution...scatter them in different classes. I will propose this today.
When I lived in Battambong for 3-4 months, I used to ride my bike along OH JAH river almost every day.
There was an old man sitting on the curb of the street begging for money. Every time I saw him, I would give him money. I do regret not buying him anything.
Today I thought of him.
My mom is currently residing in Battambong. I gave her a call this morning in regards to family affair and talked to her about the election in Thailand.
Then, I told her about the old man. I asked my mom to drive along the river and if she happens to see him, to give him some money. I didn't know the name of the river at the time i was talking to her. She asked my niece to come to the phone. I explained to my niece. She gave me the name of the river.
My mom was back on the phone and I could hear in the background.
my cousin said, "ber jong twer bon jear moy neak som tean....kwas ei..blah blah.." (if she wants to do charity with beggars, there are plenty"
That really upset me.
I told my mom that I was upset.
"Pok nake srok khmer neak yeay tae ahjung ein.....Mom, kyom men main rok nake som tean twer bong te....Kyom nirk tah nung pi-prous kyom tlop joop got " (people in Cambodia like to talk like that. I'm not looking for beggars to do charity with. I thought of that grandpa because I met him.)
12 men working all day. each day they get 20,000 riel for three meals. That's about 6,500 riel per meal.
Is it enough? is it the client's fault for wanting a lower price or is it the boss's fault for keeping more profit? Maybe it's neither. I don't know what's going on. I just know the workers aren't getting enough to eat.
20,000 riel a day to buy 3 meals feeding 12 men who work all day at a construction site.
I was trying to explain to my mom about the government shutdown.
I didn't know what "democratic" and "republican" were in Khmer. She knew what they are in Khmer but not in English. So, to avoid any confusion, I used "BUSH" and "OBAMA" as names of the parties. She knew which one belonged to which.
ME: 2 grom (groups), okay Mom? BUSH and OBAMA.
MOM: Tah BOos nung Tah CLINTONG (Bush and Clinton)
ME: BUSH and OBAMA, Mom.
MOM: Tah BOos nung Tah CLINTONG (Bush and Clinton)
ME: Mom, Clinton isn't the president now.
MOM: Tah BOos gaw men main president. (Bush isn't the president either.)
